Rebuilding a design system to help creators grow

Thinkific is a platform for creators to create and sell onine courses, build community, and monetize their following and membership.

Along with a Principal Designer, I led a project to migrate their old system and build a substantially more robust, resilient, and modern system in Figma along with Design Tokens and full documentation.

When designers are your clients

This project was a full partnership from start to finish, working closely with their internal design team, learning their practices, and having them review and collaborate.

From updating brand materials, system foundations, design tokens, and a full set of components and patterns, we created a resilient system for them.

I was responsible for navigating a fluid scope, trying to match what older designs made sense to migrate, but also trying to evaluate what old work should be left behind to simplify their future systems.

A full rework in 4 months

We had started in December 2022 and wrapped up around the end of March 2023. From scratch we had created a full documented system, and various tutorials and material to help them onboard new designers to their new processes.

While there's always knowledge sharing in any project, working with other designers as the main beneficiary was uniquely satisfying.
